This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the criminal justice system in the United States. Students explore the elements of crime, the roles of police and the court system, and the purpose of corrections, along with discussions on improving justice in society. Through engaging classroom discussions, guest speakers, and field trips to local agencies, students gain real-world perspectives on criminal justice topics. Highlights include a mock trial experience, where students assume roles as prosecutors, defense attorneys, and witnesses. This course is ideal for those interested in law enforcement or legal careers.
Students who complete this course may apply for the Conway PD Cadet Program or an internship with the Carroll County Prosecutor’s Office. Dual enrollment college credit is available through White Mountain Community College (WMCC) at a reduced rate.
