Child Growth and Development focuses on the science of how children learn and develop. Learning focuses on the developmental themes of learning such as cognitive skills, gross and fine motor development, and social-emotional development. Researching current contemporary issues affecting development will be explored. Students will have a choice in their focus on the developmental ages and will develop emerging skills to design learning activities for children. The specific content of the course includes ages and stages of learning, brain-based teaching, mindfulness, social-emotional learning strategies, and classroom management. Students will continue to develop a resume, their portfolio, and begin working with children in an educational environment.
