Prerequisite: Architectural/Technical Drawing and Design with a grade of 75% or higher and/or teacher recommendation.
In this course, you will be asked to apply basic geometry, trigonometry, and physical science theories to practical problems. This is a hands-on course that is both technical and creative; it involves Architectural, Mechanical, Surveying, and Structural Engineering design. Students will use the Design Process to explore projects in STEM incorporating elements of basic electronics, computer programming, and CAD. In this course, you will be expected to problem solve and work on multiple projects simultaneously. This course will also cover unmanned aerial systems (UAS), ground and flight operations, federal requirements, crew resource management, risk management, airspace requirements, and emergency procedures. This is a fast-paced course that will assist you in preparing for a career in construction trades, architectural, or engineering fields. SkillsUSA membership is recommended.
Running Start enables high school students to enroll in Engineering Technology for a significantly reduced tuition rate and receive college credit through Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). Additionally, dual enrollment college credit is available through Southern Maine Community College (SMCC).
