Students in the Outdoor Recreation program are gaining hands-on experience in avalanche safety through a three-day course led by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC). The training focuses on how weather impacts snow accumulation and the potential for avalanches.
The course will culminate with a field session on Mount Washington, where students will apply their knowledge in real-world conditions. Upon completion, participants will earn the AVI 1 industry-recognized credential, equipping them with essential avalanche safety skills for outdoor adventures and careers in recreation.
