Hello My Name Is...
Virginia Schrader
Hello! My name is Virginia Schrader and I am the director of the Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center at Kennett High School. I was born and raised in Miami, FL, and graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality & Tourism Management. I also attended hotel school in Leysin, Switzerland. I worked for many years in the hospitality and tourism industry in different capacities in numerous locales around the world. Eventually, my husband and I bought a country inn and restaurant in New Hampshire that we owned and operated for ten years. I was drawn to education by my mentor, Neal Moylan and the rest is history. I received my Masters of Education from Nova Southeastern University, where I also studied International Business Administration.
I have two grown children who recently graduated from colleges in Oregon and California. I love to travel, especially anywhere there are mountains, oceans, lakes, and rivers, mostly because I love to bike, ski, hike and swim. My number one passion is cycling... road, mountain, commuting, and bike-packing. I own six bicycles (as of this writing) that I’ve ridden tens of thousands of miles over the years. I don’t own a car so you may see me commuting to school on my bike year-round. My other passion is reading. I read everything!! I love nothing more than coming home from a great bike ride, taking a shower, and curling up with a good book and my little dog, Roxy.
I love working in a high school with teenagers. It is the most rewarding work I’ve ever done.
