Hello My Name Is...
Kelley Murphy
Hello, I am Kelley Murphy, MWV Teacher Education Instructor at Mount Washington Valley Career & Technical Center on the Kennett Campus. I can’t imagine living and teaching anywhere else. My classroom is literally my second home for my students and I.
This year kicks off my 23rd year in education in Mount Washington Valley. After graduating from Kennett High School in 1993, I headed to Stonehill College where I completed my BA in psychology and middle/secondary education. In the fall of 1997, I began my career at Kennett Middle School as a Team 2 seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher. After a couple of years in social studies, I took the opportunity and moved into the Family and Consumer Science Classroom. I loved seeing every middle school kiddo each year.
As my family continued to grow, I chose to leave the classroom to spend more time with my seven kiddos. While out of the classroom, I spent seven years with the Conway School Board. I was also fortunate to be involved in the PTA at all three levels of education in Mount Washington Valley. In 2016, the call back to the classroom became too much and I jumped at the chance to return to Kennett High School and run the JAG program. Fall of 2016 I returned home: the Teacher Education program was the perfect fit to bring me back to the classroom full time.
When not in the classroom, I am more often than not found on the sidelines of my kiddos soccer, hockey and lacrosse games. Each summer, we head to the shores of Silver Lake to regroup and indulge in our love of the water and all the activities that come with it. During the summer months you will find me on the dock in an Adirondack chair with my nose buried in a book.
